Installation o f
a water main would allow for hook-up of all affected residences to this main
and eventual destruction of the affected domestic wells. ASE contacted the
City of Manteca for the specification of the existing water main, the length
between the existing stub-ups, and their requirements for the proposed
main. The City of Manteca also provided ASE with the names and phone
numbers of several contractors that have previously completed similar jobs
in the city. ASE contacted several of these contractors, briefly explained the
proposed work, and requested a budgetary bid in writing. ASE also spoke
with, and received a bid from, an engineering firm that would be capable of
preparing the plans and specifications for such a project that could then be
used for gaining permits and competitive bids. Attached in Appendix A is a
copy of all budgetary bids received by ASE.
-3 -
