Please be aware that the lowest construction bid was
$178,000 and the highest bid was $479,000. The highest bidder, Carl
Crutchfield Construction, was the only one of the three that actually visited
the sites.
These costs do not include any labor on ASE's part for items such as, but n o t
limited to, project management, permit acquisition, field activities, gaining
pre-approval from the USTCF, reporting, etc. Should ASE's involvement be
required, labor will be billed at standard billing rates, and all subcontracted
items and materials will be billed at cost plus 15%.
GRAND TOTAL OF OPTION II $2 6 7 ,3 9 0 . 0 0
This solution would obviously be permanent. The domestic wells could be
taken completely out of service. ASE believes this option would b e
acceptable to a majority of the residences; although, there does appear to
be opposition from several of the residents to being annexed into the city
and/or having to pay a water bill.
The length of a water main required to provide water to all the affected
properties along Airport Way is approximately 1,200-feet. The City of
Manteca has stated that ' they would require the installation of the water
main to extend from the Airport Way/Yosemite Avenue intersection all the
way to the Airport Way/Crom Street intersection, which totals
approximately 3,000-feet. During the meeting on May 10, 2001, Mr. Robert
Trommer of the USTCF stated he was uncertain if his agency could
reimburse for costs associated with any, a portion of, or the total length of
the proposed water main.
I
-4-
