28 December 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0351
3.4. MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
The scope of work will include the advancement of two borings to a total depth of approximately
20 feet below surface grade (bsg), collection of soil samples, and the installation of two 2-inch
diameter ground water monitoring well. Proposed boring locations are depicted on Figure.2.
Soil borings will be advanced utilizing a truck-mounted;,drill rig equipped with 8.25-inch hollow-
stem augers. Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals beginning at a depth of 5 feet bsg,
preserved and placed in a chilled container for transportation to a State-certified laboratory. Soils
will be described using the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS and ATSM D-2489). Soil
sample descriptions and PID screening results will be summarized on boring logs prepared for the
final report.
3.5. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of field work and receipt of final laboratory analysis, a report will be prepared
presenting the findings of the soil removal activities. The report will include a description of the
work performed and the results of the sampling and analysis. Conclusions and applicable
recommendations will be included in the report. The report will be in a format acceptable to the
PHS-EHD and CVRWQCB, and will be reviewed and signed by a California Registered Geologist.
4.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Registered Geologist.Procedures for soil excavation, soil sampling, equipment decontamination and
monitoring well installation are outlined below.,
4.1. SOIL EXCAVATION PROCEDURES
Soil will be excavated using an excavator. Soil will be placed into -an end-dump truck for
transportation to Forward Landfill. Excavated soil will be field screened for the presence of volatile
organic compounds using an OVM. Based on OVM readings and field observations, excavated soil
will be segregated into clean soil(if appropriate)and impacted soil; only soil exhibiting hydrocarbon
odors or measured OVM readings will be transported for disposal. The excavation will be backfilled
with clean fill material or pea gravel.
The open excavation area will be surrounded by temporary fencing. No AGE or subcontractor
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
