PRELIMINARY SITE ASSESSMENT WORK PLAN <br /> October 1996 <br /> Stephens Marine <br /> 345 North Yosemite Street <br /> Stockton,California <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK <br /> In accordance with a request from Mr Kent Gikas of the Union Safe Deposit Bank, Advanced, <br /> GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared the enclosed Preliminary Site Assessment Work Plan <br /> for 345 North Yosemite Road in Stockton, California The scope of work is to assess the lateral and <br /> vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil and ground water near the former and present <br /> underground storage tank (UST) areas The location of the site is illustrated in Figure 1 -Location <br /> Map A plan of the site is depicted in Figure 2 -Site Plan <br /> This work plan is prepared in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services - <br /> Environmental Health Division(PHS-EHD)and the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control <br /> Board guidelines for the investigation of UST sites - <br /> 20. BACKGROUND <br /> 2 1 SITE LOCATION <br /> The site is located in an industrial area of low topographic relief, located '/a-mile east of the <br /> intersection of Fremont Street and Pershing Avenue at approximately 10 feet above sea level The <br /> site is currently operated by Stephens Five Star Marine and other light industrial businesses The <br /> surface of the site is covered with mostly asphalt <br /> 2 2 , UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL <br /> It is our understanding that one underground storage tank(UST)A as removed from the site in May <br /> 1986 The UST was located near the southern end of San Jose Street, south of the Fremont Street <br /> Analytical results of soil samples collected from UST excavation indicated that an unauthorized <br /> release of hydrocarbons had occurred A letter dated 07 March 1996 from the San Joaquin County <br /> Public Health Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) requested further site <br /> assessment of soil and ground water in the vicinity of the farmer UST prior to granting certified site <br /> closure <br /> During and on-site inspection of the property, representatives of AGE discovered one additional <br /> UST within a building at the southern portion of the site (Unit C) It is our understanding that the <br /> . PHS-EHD has no record of the additional UST <br />
