This work plan has been prepared in response
to a letter from Mr. Michael J. Infurna Jr. of San Jc aquin County Public Health Services- I
Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS-EHD), dated April 16, 1998 (Attachment A).
Included in this work plan are a site background, description of previous investigations;
proposed-scope of work (three phases), field methc ds and laboratory procedures
(Attachment B), and anticipated schedule.
SITE BACKGROUND
The site is located at 1700 East Yosemite Avenue in Manteca, California(Figure 1). The
site is an operating service station and mini-mart that retails unleaded gasoline fuel. The
site currently contains two gasoline USTs (10,000-gallon) and associated product lines
and dispensers.
I
On January 14, 1998, at the direction of Mr. I (SJCPHS-EHD), PEG collected
seven soil samples from four locations beneath eac product dispenser. The soil samples
were collected from depths of approximately 2 to 5-112 feet below ground surface (bgs).
The selected soil samples were analyzed for total p troleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPH-g), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes(BTEX), and methyl tertiary
butyl ether(MtBE). The maximum concentration of TPH-g (15,000 milligrams per
kilograms [mg/kg])was detected in sample PD-1 at 2 feet bgs.
