The
site is an operating service station and mini-mart that retails unleaded gasoline fuel. The
site currently contains two gasoline USTs (10,000-gallon) and associated product lines
and dispensers.
I
On January 14, 1998, at the direction of Mr. I (SJCPHS-EHD), PEG collected
seven soil samples from four locations beneath eac product dispenser. The soil samples
were collected from depths of approximately 2 to 5-112 feet below ground surface (bgs).
The selected soil samples were analyzed for total p troleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPH-g), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes(BTEX), and methyl tertiary
butyl ether(MtBE). The maximum concentration of TPH-g (15,000 milligrams per
kilograms [mg/kg])was detected in sample PD-1 at 2 feet bgs.
