Fii
r
Workplan And Health And Safety Plan BSK.lob 01-40-0433
Soil Investigation March 9, 1998
F;;'
1755 East Yosemite Avenue Page 2
Manteca, California
a
• Drill one soil boring to a depth of 15 feet below ground surface (based on an
anticipated depth to water of 20 feet), collecting soil samples at five-foot intervals,
starting at a depth of 5 feet. The boring will be backfilled with a sand-cement
grout or neat cement. '
• Soil cuttings will be stored in 5-gallon containers and will remain on-site in the
custody of the client. Costs for handling/disposal of the drums are not included.
Recommendations for disposal can be provided following the receipt of analytical
results.
Submit two soil samples for chemical analysis of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons
i as referenced to gasoline (TPHg) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes
' (BTEX). The soil samples will be submitted to BSK Analytical Laboratories in
Fresno (ELAP Certification #I 180) for chemical analyses. ;
• Submit a brief letter report presenting o r observations and analytical results.
F,' The soil boring will be completed using hand auger methods and soil samples will be collected
within brass or stainless steel sample tubes by driving a core sampler in advance of the auger.
, Based on our review of the Phase 1, the soils of the sub ect property are amenable to such
F, methods in the area of the removed UST, where hardpan soils would have been penetrated by the
excavation. Soil samples obtained for chemical analyses will be accompanied to the analytical
Flaboratory by a Chain-of-Custody form (COC). COC rms will be initiated at the time of
sampling. Duplicate COC forms will be placed in the project file. COC documentation will
include the following information:
-- Name of sampler.
-- Sample I.D. numbers.
-- Time of sample acquisition.
-- Requested analyses.
-- Remarks as warranted.
-- Signatures, times and dates of custody transfer.
i ! Sampling personnel will be responsible for the protection and custody of the samples until they I
are relinquished. When sample custody is transferred, the respective individuals relinquishing
and receiving the samples will sign, date, and record th time on the COC form
F1Between soil sampling attempts, the sampler will be washed in a solution of laboratory-grade
detergent, rinsed with clean water, and reassembled with clean sample liners to minimize the '
Fill! potential for spreading contaminants among samples.
i
I
IJ
: I
