' Off-Site Groundwater Investigation Work Plan Page 6
Rainwater Car Wash, Manteca, California 95336
May 30, 2012
' 5.2.2 Pre-field Inspection and Access
' Prior to fieldwork,AA&A will conduct a site reconnaissance and will mark all proposed boring locations with
white paint. Well installation locations will be inspected for site accessibility, underground utilities, and to
identify additional potential issues that may be encountered during fieldwork.
5.2.3 Permitting and Agency Notification
Well installation permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
' (SJCEHD)prior to initiating field activities. The SJCEHD will be notified at least 48 hours before drilling
activities are commenced at the site so that representatives from the agencies can be present during the fieldwork
to inspect boring locations and observe well abandonment activities.
' Two monitoring wells are proposed within the public right-of-way(ROW)along the sidewalk of West Yosemite
Avenue and Rose Lane. An encroachment permit will be obtained from the City of Manteca Public Works
Department prior to initiating the installation of wells located within the ROW.One well is proposed on private
' property directly north of the subject site. AA&A will attempt to secure right-of-entry from the property owners.
5.2.4 Underground Utility Survey
' Underground Services Alert(USA)will be notified at least 48 hours before the intent to complete well installation
activities prior to initiation of intrusive field tasks. All well installation locations will be clearly marked with
' white paint as required by USA. USA will contact all utility owners of record within the vicinity and notify them
of the intention to conduct subsurface investigations in proximity to buried utilities. All utility owners of record,
or their designated agents, will be expected to clearly mark the position of their utilities on the ground surface
throughout the area designated for investigation so that they can be avoided during drilling.
' 5.3 Drilling Activities
5.3.1 Monitoring Well Locations
The locations of the proposed monitoring wells were chosen to define the extent of petroleum hydrocarbons
contamination in soil and groundwater.
The proposed monitoring wells are shown on Figure 3.The borings are proposed off-site and down-gradient from
the source area at the following locations:
• MW 14A/B northwest of the subject site located on the northern sidewalk of West Yosemite Avenue,
approximately 30 feet east of the intersection of West Yosemite Avenue and Rose Lane, south of the
property located at 541 West Yosemite Avenue;
• MW 15A/B northwest of the subject site on Rose Lane, approximately 155 feet north of the intersection of
West Yosemite Avenue and Rose Lane, west of the property located at 112 Rose Lane; and
' • MW 16A/B northwest of the subject site on the property located at 429 West Yosemite Avenue, directly
north of the structure on-site,approximately 170 feet north from the edge of the property line along West
Yosemite Avenue.
' 5.3.2 Hollow-Stem Auger Drilling Method and Soil Sample Collection
Borings MW 14 through MW 16 will be advanced using an open-flight,hollow-stem auger drill rig to 70 feet bgs.
' The upper 5 feet of the well locations will be manually excavated with a hand-auger to the diameter of the augers.
Ami
' &Rs"sociciatesJnc.
