' Community Health and Safety Plan <br /> RAINWATER CAR WASH,Manteca, California 95336 Page 18 <br /> May 30,2012 <br /> ' Modified level D may be required by the SHSS and can consist of some and/or all of the following equipment: <br /> • Outer nitrile gloves and inner nitrile surgical gloves when direct contact with chemically affected soils or <br /> ' groundwater is anticipated(e.g., nitrile surgical gloves may be used for collecting or classifying samples <br /> as long as they are removed and disposed of immediately after each sampling event); <br /> • Chemical-resistant clothing(e.g.,Tyvek®or poly-coated Tyvek(&coveralls)when contact with <br /> ' chemically affected soils or groundwater is anticipated. Paper coveralls are permissible when working in <br /> a dry dust environment; <br /> • Safety shoes/boots with protective over-boots or knee-high PVC poly-blend boots when direct contact <br /> ' with chemically affected soils is anticipated; <br /> • Hearing protection;and/or <br /> • Sturdy work gloves. <br /> ' 8.2 Level C Protection <br /> If air monitoring or other site conditions indicates that the site-specific action levels defined above are exceeded, <br /> ' all workers under the direction and control of AA&A who are impacted by the elevated air monitoring readings <br /> will upgrade their PPE to level C. In addition to the protective equipment specified for level D, level C includes <br /> the use of the following equipment: <br /> ' • NIOSH-approved,half-face air-purifying respirator(APR)or full-face APR equipped with a P100 filter in <br /> combination with organic vapor cartridge;the use of any respirators must also be in compliance with the <br /> ' requirements of a written respiratory protection plan pursuant to Title 8 CCR section 5144. <br /> • Chemical-resistant clothing(e.g.,Tyvek(g,poly-coated Tyvek®,or Saranex coveralls)when contact with <br /> chemically affected soils or groundwater is anticipated. Paper coveralls are permissible when working in <br /> ' a dry dust environment. <br /> • Outer nitrile gloves and inner nitrile surgical gloves when direct contact with chemically affected soils or <br /> groundwater is anticipated(e.g.,nitrile surgical gloves may be used for collecting or classifying samples <br /> ' as long as they are removed and disposed of immediately after each sampling event). <br /> • Safety shoes/boots with protective over-boots or knee-high PVC poly-blend boots when direct contact <br /> with chemically affected soils is anticipated. <br /> ' 8.3 Respiratory Protection <br /> The standard respirator assigned to AA&A employees for level C work involving gasoline and/or chlorinated <br /> ' solvents consists of a half-face APR. The standard-issue cartridge consists of the organic vapor cartridge in <br /> combination with a P100 filter. <br /> ' All personnel under the direction and control of AA&A who have been assigned a respirator will comply with the <br /> requirements of AA&A's written respiratory protection program.It is the responsibility of the SHSS to ensure <br /> compliance with AA&A's respiratory protection program. This written program,which meets the minimum <br /> ' requirements of Title 8 CCR section 5144,includes but is not limited to the following: <br /> • Individuals required to wear respiratory protection are responsible for inspecting and maintaining their <br /> own respirator. <br /> • Procedures for cleaning, inspecting,maintenance,and storage of respirators. <br /> • Individuals required to wear respiratory protection must have medical clearance from a physician or other <br /> licensed health care professional. <br /> Ami Adini <br /> &Associates,lnc. <br />
