4eologtcal recluucs txc Page 4
l
Soil Gas Survey Report
ie Protect No 701 2
July 23,2002
Gasoline
The results of the soil gas survey indicate that gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons are
' present at a point approximately 75 feet northeast of well MW-7 The "green" contour
representing 0 576 to 1 578 pg on the gasoline map has a southerly component that extends
through the location of MW-7 to MW-8 Well MW-7 has been impacted by gasoline and
BTEX but MW-8 has remained free of detectable contamination This evidence is
anomalous from a correlation of soil vapor to groundwater concentration standpoint The
extreme southeast corner of the map shows an increase in gasoline concentration dust
southeast of MW-8 This may be indicative of the release associated with the former
gasoline UST in the front of the facility
The Gore report includes specific values for several chemicals Of the chemicals detected in
the high node of contamination at module #402124, the highest detected concentrations
' were combined 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene & 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene (TMB 78 35 ug) and
octane (OCT 60 27 µg) This suggests that the node present in this location is primarily
from a gasoline related source rather than a diesel source
' The BTEX concentration map illustrates three nodes of high concentrations The nodes are
located around well MW-7 and to the north, northeast and south of MW-7 The lack of
nodes to the west of the property fence suggests that the sources of the contamination are
restricted to the Ted Peters parcel
' MTBE was non-detect above the laboratory reporting limit in any module
' Diesel
A node of diesel contamination was detected in the same vicinity as a high node of gasoline
approximately 75 ft northeast of well MW-7 Additional diesel was detected on the
' southeast portion of the investigation grid dust west of the former diesel aboveground
storage tanks (ASTs) A faint node is present on the west side of the study area in the
location of module#402121
1
