>_ _ .t
F
198E AGS Job No. 39053-1
xaco Service Station, Manteca, California
le will be inspected with a photoionizing hydrocarbon
vapor detector. These devices are useful for the
a
semiquantitative evaluation of the relative concentrations of
volatile hydrocarbons but cannot be used to give absolute levels
of contamination.
Soil samples selected for chemical analysis will be sealed with
aluminum foil, plastic caps, and airtight tape. The samples will
.a
then be labeled and immediately placed in iced storage for
transport to the analytical laboratory for testing. Chain of
Custody Records will be initiated by the geologist in the field
and accompany the samples to the laboratory. Copies of these
records will be presented in our final report. An example of a
Chain of Custody Record (Plate P-5) is included in this Work
Plan.
The borings will be drilled to depths approximately 20 feet below
`j the uppermost zone of saturation or 5 feet into any competent
clay layer (aquitard) encountered. If an aquitard is
encountered, the borings will be terminated and backfilled with 5
v feet of bentonite before installing ground-water monitoring
wells.
---- - --------------
10
U •QPp11490" GeoSystems
