Site Begins APR 0 7 20( 6 Introduction SAN JOAQUIN C NTY ENVIRONMENTAL HEA H DEPT, Price The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is holding a 30-day public comment period to accept comments on a Proposed Interim Measure envirowneratrl r for the Tyco Electronics Facility site (referred to as the Site) located at 1848 and 1856 Field Avenue, Stockton, California. The comment period starts on �I danragefro,n April 10, 2006 and closes on May 10, 2006. hazardous waste; Background The 1.1 acre Site operated as a printed circuit board manufacturing facility and restorin' from 1987 through 2001. The current land use in the surrounding area is cnztarnirrated = primarily commercial and industrial; however, several residential housing units are located within 1/8 mile of the Site. The Site has vacant buildings on sites for all it, but they are not in use. Californianm Proposed Interim Measure The Proposed Interim Measure is for the removal of soil with elevated levels of lead in a 10 feet by 15 feet by 5 feet deep area under the contrete slab flooring in Building 1848. The contaminated soil will be excavated and transported to a licensed landfill for disposal. The concrete flooring will be replaced after the excavated area is back filled with clean soil. DTSC is the lead regulatory agency over Site environmental activities. It is DTSC's role to ensure that environmental activities performed at the Site are done appropriately and are protective of human health and the environment. Public Comment Period Public comments on the Tyco Electronics Facility Site proposed Interim Measure are being accepted.
