Hazardous Waste Water Treatment Management and Closure Program
Page 2
cracks, buckles or bulges detected during the visual inspection will be further evaluated
by suitable techniques. The secondary containment system is inspected daily for signs
of deterioration, evidence of releases. Cracks or decay are repaired promptly to
maintain structural integrity. Tank support structures and anchor bolts are checked
monthly for structural integrity. Since the wastewater treatment unit is an integral part
of the facility operation, instrumentation, and controls are checked daily to ensure good
working order. A summary of the inspection frequency for tanks is provided in Section
II.C.
B. Container Storage Area
Other wastes generated by the above mentioned processes are drummed and stored in
the less than 90-day hazardous waste storage area located within the secure Storage
Area. The containers and container storage area are inspected according to the
schedule in Section II.C. for leaking containers, deterioration of containers, containment
integrity and container labeling. At a minimum, the individual containers must be
marked with the date which each accumulation period begins, the date the 90-day
period begins, composition and physical state of the waste, hazardous properties of the
waste (flammable, reactive, etc.) and the name and address of the facility producing the
waste.
C.
