16
2 0 SCOPE OF WORK
' The protect objectives were to further define the vertical and lateral extent of impacted
groundwater, and to determine if any nearby domestic water wells had been impacted To
achieve these objectives, cone penetration testing and discrete groundwater samples were
collected at three additional locations, and groundwater from the existing monitoring wells, on-site
domestic well, and four nearby residential wells was sampled for laboratory analysis The
installation of two additional groundwater monitoring wells is pending encroachment permitting
and contractor scheduling
'
21 Project Planning and Permitting
' Prior to initiating fieldwork, a site-specific health and safety plan addendum was prepared
according to 29 CFR 1910 120 The health and safety plan included safety procedures, chemical
hazard information, site safety officers, and a medical emergency location
For the CPT borings, permits (SR #30198 and 30200) were obtained from PHSIEHD Since one
of the CPT locations was located along Raylow Avenue, an encroachment permit (#4657) was
obtained from the city of Manteca Copies of the approved permits are included in Appendix A
At least two working days prior to drilling, Ramage Environmental
9 g notified PHSIEHD so that any
inspections could be scheduled Underground Service Alert(USA) was also notified to complete
utility clearance inspections (USA Reference #276584 and 276601)
22 Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring, Sampling and Analysis
On March 19, 2002, to comply with quarterly groundwater monitoring requirements, Ramage
Environmental monitored and sampled the four monitoring wells and sampled the on-site water
supply well
Depth-to- roundwater was measured in all four groundwater 9 g ater morntonng wells to evaluate
groundwater flow and gradient characteristics Following the groundwater level measurements,
each of the four wells was purged and sampled The wells were purged using a pump and
dedicated disposable tubing until at least three well casing volumes were extracted and/or after
' groundwater temperature, pH and electrical conductivity values had stabilized
 11
