2 0 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The objectives of this investigation were to evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of any <br /> impacted soil and/or groundwater associated with the former gasoline fueling system and to <br /> identify any sensitive receptors (i e , water wells) in the site vicinity To achieve these project <br /> ' objectives, sod and groundwater-grab samples were collected for laboratory analysis from 11 on- <br /> site soil borings, and a surrey of water wells within a 2,000-foot radius of the site was conducted <br /> Due to the depth and distribution of petroleum hydrocarbons observed in soil and groundwater <br /> beneath the site, the approved scope of work was extended in the field, as directed by <br /> PHS/EHD The specific modifications to the approved scope of work are detailed in the <br /> regulatory directive, documented by PHSIEHD on September 19, 1999 (Appendix A) <br /> 2.1 Project Planning <br /> The project planning task included the acquisition of a drilling permit, routine notifications and <br /> underground utility surveys, and the preparation of a health and safety plan <br /> 2 1 1 Permitting and Utilily Clearance <br /> On August 24, 1999, a dnlhng permit (SR#020318) was obtained from PHSIEHD (Appendix A) <br /> Since all of the drilling was conducted on the subject site, neither private property access <br /> ' agreements nor encroachment permits were required <br /> At least two working days prior to any field work, PHSIEHD was notified so that regulatory <br /> inspections could be scheduled On August 26, 1999, Underground Service Alert (USA) was <br /> notified to mark any underground utilities (USA Ticket#572119) <br /> 2 1 2 Health and Safe Plan <br /> 1 Prior to initiating fieldwork, a site-specific health and safety plan was prepared in accordance <br /> with 29 CFR 1910 120 The health and safety plan includes safety procedures for work to be <br /> performed, chemical hazard information, site safety officers, and a medical emergency location <br /> A copy of the health and safety plan is included as Appendix B <br /> 8 <br />
