The following was found in the hazardous waste (HW) storage area at the time of inspection: - Two bottles of Tresemme Heat Tamer Leave-In Spray bagged and marked "AF" were found on the floor in front of the HW storage area. Randy stated these items should have been placed in the AF HW tote. Randy placed the bag containing the bottles into an AF HW tote. (IMG 4976-7) - An empty container of Repone Suero Electrolyte Solution with Zinc bagged and marked "TX" was found behind a black crate adjacent the HW storage area. Randy stated this item should have been placed in the TX HW tote. Randy placed the bagged item into a TX HW tote. Randy did not indicate what happened to the solution that was once in the container. (IMG 4982, 4987) - A Dove Advance Care deodorant was found bagged, marked "TX," and located in between the outside of two hazardous waste totes (IMG 5024-6). Randy placed the deodorant in a TX OTC tote. - An open cardboard box labeled "Cough Drops" in the HW storage area contained the following items (IMG 5071-7): - DJZ Earphones bagged and marked "UW." Randy stated this item should have been placed in the Universal Waste (UW) HW tote. Randy placed the earphones in the UW HW tote. - Two aerosol cans of Hot Shot Bedbug & Flea Fogger bagged and marked "AF." Randy stated the aerosol cans should have been placed in the AF HW tote. Randy placed the aerosol cans in the AF tote. - Two aerosol cans of Endust for Electronics All-Purpose Duster bagged and marked "AF." Randy placed the aerosol cans in the AF tote. - A bagged Sound Logic Bluetooth Rechargeable Suction Cup Speaker, which Randy scanned and placed into the UW HW tote. - An aerosol can of WD-40 was found missing the actuator and located in an open container with two spray bottles of cleaner. Randy Garcia, store manager, stated that the aerosol can should have been damaged out. Randy scanned the aerosol can and the hand-held scanner prompted Randy to place the aerosol can into a Flammables, Aerosols, & Combustibles (AF) HW tote. Randy placed the aerosol can into an AF HW tote.(IMG 4975, 4983-6) - An empty container of Homeline All Purpose Cleaner was found bagged and on the floor in front of the HW storage area. Randy stated he was not sure if the item had been damaged out already. Randy scanned the cleaner container and the scanner prompted him to placed the cleaner into a Corrosive Bases (CB) HW tote. Randy placed the cleaner container into a CB HW tote, however he did not mark the physical state, accumulation start date, nor the contents on the CB HW tote (IMG 4977-8, 4988-9, 4991, 5056-7). Nine packs of expired Nicorette gum were found on sale in the cabinet behind the front register. Three of the packs expired in January of 2016, and the other six packs expired in March of 2017. Randy scanned the Nicorette gum and the hand-held scanner prompted him to place the gum into a TX HW tote. Randy placed the nine packs of Nicorette gum into a bag, marked the bag TX, and placed it into a TX OTC HW tote. (IMG 5084-92) All hazardous waste containers shall be closed at all times except when adding or removing waste. Immediately close these containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed when not adding or removing waste.
