CLEARWATER <br /> G R O U P, [ N C <br /> ' • <br /> Background hydrocarbon vapors in air samples from MW-4, MW-5, MW-6, VW- <br /> 1, and VW-2; measurements were made using a lower explosion limit (LEL) <br /> meter and a photoionization detector (PID) <br /> • Background vacuums in MW-4, MW-5, MW-6, VW-1, and VW-2 using a <br /> magnehelic gauge which measures vacuum in inches of water. <br /> Tests were conducted using a vapor-extraction internal combustion (IC) engine; <br /> vapors are extracted by the engine vacuum and abated by engine combustion <br /> Clearwater received a letter of approval to conduct the SVE test from the San <br /> Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District (APCD) <br /> SVE tests were conducted on VW-1 and VW-2 in the following manner <br /> • VW-1 and VW-2 were step-tested at applied vacuums of 10, 30, and 60 inches of <br /> water for approximately one hour at each vacuum level <br /> P • Flow volume was monitored at each vacuum level and recorded in actual cubic <br /> feet per minute (ACFM) <br /> • Induced vacuums were monitored at intervals of 5 to 10 minutes in MW-4, <br /> MW-5, MW-6, and the other SVE well <br /> ' • <br /> During the test, air samples collected from the SVE well being tested were 1 <br /> monitored for organic vapors using the LEL meter and the PID <br /> • At the end of the last step test, an air sample was collected from the SVE (well; <br /> being tested and the sample was analyzed for BTEX and TPHg. <br /> 1 � � I <br /> Air Sparge Pilot Test <br /> I ' I The initial plans for the pilot test included extractingvapors from VW-1 and VW-2 <br /> during the air sparge test of SW-1 and SW-2 However,r,the IC I <br /> ' the start of the air sparge test With approval from Ahe APCD; Clearwater pconducted; <br /> I I s I I I 11 ° <br /> air sarge,tests without extracting vapors,from VW-1 and VW-2. <br /> III I .
