Collecting, Processing and Recycling UNIVERSAL WASTE <br /> Are there any special requirements if I want to export my <br /> Universal Waste? <br /> Yes. Refer to 40 CFR 273.20 or your state regulations for more <br /> information. <br /> What if I want to accumulate my Universal Waste <br /> on-site for more than one year? <br /> In most(but not all) states, Universal Wastes may be accumulated <br /> longer than one year if it can be demonstrated that it is being done to <br /> "facilitate proper recovery, treatment or disposal". The burden of proof <br /> is on the handler to prove that a longer accumulation time is necessary. <br /> If a desire to pay lower recycling or disposal costs is the only reason for <br /> longer accumulation, this may not meet this burden of proof. <br /> My facility generates other hazardous waste in addition to <br /> some Universal Wastes. Do I have to count my Universal <br /> Wastes in determining my generator status as an LQG, SQG, <br /> or VSQG? <br /> No. Hazardous wastes managed as Universal Wastes do not have to <br /> be counted when determining generator status. <br /> My facility has to submit a SARA 313 Toxic Release Inventory <br /> (TRI) report each year. Do I have to consider my Universal <br /> Wastes sent offsite as a "release"? <br /> Unbroken lamps, batteries and thermostats are usually considered <br /> as "articles" and are therefore exempt from TRI reporting. <br /> Leader Guide:eviscpruc_vod <br />
