For the Poly Tank System:
1. The poly tank will be filled to the top. The tank cannot be filled above the top or fluid would flow out of the J-
pipe vent there.
2. No additional fluid will be allowed to enter the tank via the conveyance piping from the steam cleaning room
and a sign will be posted in the room to that effect.
3. The level of fluid in the poly tank will be automatically measured by the level indicator located beside the tank,
and a date-and time-stamped photo will be taken for documentation.
4. At least 24 hours later, the level of the fluid in the poly tank will be read off the level indicator, and a date-and
time-stamped photo will be taken for documentation.
5. Two fluid level readings over a 24-hour period will verify the poly waste tank does not leak.
6. The PVC pipe that conveys oily water from the steam room to the poly tank is considered inherently leak proof
because:
a. It is open to the atmosphere and therefore under no pressure.
b. It is located above the tank and conveys fluid by gravity and is only ever partially full.
The results and documentation of the additional leak detection testing will be provided in a letter report to SJCEHD.
Thank you,
Karen
Karen Petryna, PE,QSD/QSP I A GHD Senior Project Manager
US West Region
GHD
Proudly employee owned
T: +1559 476 5763 1 M: +1559 545 5040 1 E: karen.petryna@ghd.com
30 River Park Place West Suite 220 Fresno CA 93720 USA I www.ghd.com
Connect
WATER I ENERGY& RESOURCES I ENVIRONMENT I PROPERTY& BUILDINGS TRANSPORTATION
Please consider our environment before printing this email.
From: Florido, Elianna <eflorido@sigov.org>
Sent: Wednesday,April 22, 2020 11:56 AM
To: Karen Petryna <Karen.Petryna@ghd.com>
Cc: Bill Boscacci <Bill.Boscacci@o-i.com>
Subject: Owens-Brockway Glass Container,Tracy:Tightness Testing Used Oil and Poly Wastewater Systems
Hi Karen,
I hope this email finds you well.
I reviewed the tank assessments you submitted for Owens-Brockway's used oil tank system and the poly wastewater
tank system, and have a question regarding the tightness testing performed on both tank systems.
Can you demonstrate how the tightness testing performed covers both of the tank systems entirely, since it appears that
the tanks were only partially filled with their respective wastes when tested?
Thank you,
3
