Aqueous Ammonia 19% SCR System Operating Procedures
These operations are only to be performed by a qualified and trained operator.
Refer to the following documents for additional information:
• Aqueous Ammonia 19%Safety Data Sheet (Safety and Health Considerations)
• Overall System Description
• Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
• LECHLER Operation and Maintenance Manual
Refer to the Maintenance Section for information on Equipment Inspections.
NOTE: * is used to denote the injection point designation (180, 280, or 380).
Initial Startup
(1) Pump DI water through the system to verify there are no leaks and that the system is
functioning properly.
(2) After the skid is primed, start the pump (see pumps below) against the closed control
valve FCV*V1.
(3) When startup pressure PTS-*P4 are reached, pneumatic control valves FCV*V1 are
opened to a predetermined set point (i.e. 20%) until the standpipe and ring mains are
filled.
(4) The control valve%open setting can be slowly increased to attain up to%of the maximum
flow rate during filling.
Note: An alternative method is to connect DI water to a drain ball valve and fill the
standpipe and ring mains.
• Max Injected Fluid SCR A: 0.22 gpm
• Max Injected Fluid SCR B: 0.22 gpm
• Max Injected Fluid SCR C: 0.16 gpm
(5) Turn on the compressed air.
(6) Verify the I/O are operational and functioning properly.
Operational Readiness
(1) The injection is in Automatic Mode.
(2) The storage tank level is above 65%.
(3) Pumps P80P1 or P80132 is ready for operation. Note: Pump selection is based on injection
location.
(4) Control valves FCV*V1 in the injection line must be closed. Note: Control valve selection
is based on injection location.
(5) Pneumatic ball valve FCV*V2 in the liquid line must be open.
(6) Atomizing air pressure is available.
(7) Pneumatic ball valve FCV-*V3 in the atomizing air line must be open.
Page I B-2
