Rather, Cooks Collision sorts waste collected in the mixing rooms into the <br /> following categories: waste paint,bondo dust,empty paint cans, and empty paint cups. <br /> Cooks collision manages its waste paint, bondo dust,and empty paint cans as hazardous <br /> waste. See Attachments 8-1, S-2,S-4 and S-6,manifests for waste paint,bondo dust, <br /> and empty paint cans. Empty paint cups are placed into a closed container and are <br /> collected by Corrick Enviro Services, Inc. See Attachment S-3. <br /> Item No. 204: HSC 25201(a). Failed to obtain a permit to treat hazardous waste. <br /> Envirobase High Performance ECH7080,flashpoint 104 F and EC700,flashpoint 76 F <br /> with pourable amounts were found in the trash can in the mixing room. According to an <br /> employee onsite, the cans are allowed to air dry in the trash can. This facility does not <br /> have a hazardous waste treatment permit issued from either the EBD or the DTSC. <br /> Immediately cease treatment of hazardous waste without a permit or obtain a treatment <br /> permit. Class I violation. <br /> Response to Item No.204: <br /> Please see the response to Item No. 202,above. Pourable volumes of paint are used in _ <br /> operations by Cooks Collision and are not waste paint. Paint containers that were <br /> photographed by the CUPA with pourable amounts of paint were still in use in <br /> operations. With respect to paint containers that are not fully emptied through <br /> operations, Cooks Collision employees are required to empty the containers manually <br /> into a 55-gallon drum designated for the specific type of waste paint. All employees have <br /> been trained to follow this procedure. Cooks Collision has also trained all employees to <br /> place empty paint containers into a closed collection bin,and the empty paint containers <br /> are then removed from the facility by Corrick Enviro Services Inc. (See Attachment E). F <br /> E <br /> Supplemental Response to Item No. 204.- <br /> Cooks <br /> 04:Cooks Collision does not treat hazardous waste. Please see Responses and Supplemental a <br /> Responses to Item Nos. 101,and 202, above. Please see the accompanying <br /> documentation,Attachments S-1,8-2, 8-4 and S-6,which indicate waste is removed <br /> from the facility for disposal at a TDSF, rather than treated onsite. Empty paint cups are <br /> removed by Corrick Enviro Services,Inc. See Attachment S-3. <br /> Item No. 403: CCR 66262.34(d)(2). Failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed <br /> except when adding or removing hazardous waste. A 55g drum of water based waste <br /> paint was seen open. All hazardous waste containers shall be closed at all times except <br /> when adding or removing waste. Immediately close these containers and ensure all <br /> hazardous waste containers are closed when not adding or removing waste. Class R <br /> violation. <br /> Response to Item No.403: <br /> Cooks Collision has trained all employees on hazardous materials and hazardous waste <br /> management. Compliance training is conducted annually.
