FAMILY10OLLAR
my family,my family dollar,
May 1, 2019
Sent via email to Elianna Florido at efloridogsif;ov.org
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Dept
1868 E. Hazelton Ave
Stockton, CA 95205
Re: Family Dollar Store#32078
66 S. Wilson Way
Stockton, CA 95205
Dear Ms. Florido,
In response to the inspection conducted on March 20, 2019 and the amended report of March 28,
2019, for Store#32078 in Stockton, California, please see the outline below, and the exhibits
which follow, referencing existing procedures, documentation and/or actions taken:
1. A Dollar Tree/Family Dollar EH&S Specialist conducted a follow-up audit at this store
on March 25, 2019. Store management was coached on the proper identification and
management of hazardous waste including the use of available resources and who to call
for support if unsure. As part of our internal audit, all totes containing waste were
assessed for proper categorization, processing and labeling. Tote contents and labels were
corrected as needed. This included processing empty or partially empty containers that
had held cleaning solutions (both retail and store-use) and other household chemicals. It
was emphasized that empty chemical containers NEVER go in the trash, but must be
processed as waste.
2. In addition to the coaching, the Store Manager and three Assistant Store Managers have
been retrained on the hazardous waste program(EXHIBIT A). Hazardous waste is to be
processed by managers only. We have provided short annual"awareness training"to
non-management staff, however, it is not mandated by law; nor do we want every
associate in a store managing and processing hazardous waste.
Please see the separate attachment of the new training material.
3. The HMBP for this location was updated on March 26, 2019 and submitted in CERs
under no.10759933. It was sent to the store on March 27, 2019. The Emergency
Coordinator role was explained, the Store Manager's name and phone number filled-in,
and the Emergency Response/Contingency Plan posted for access by all associates
(EXHIBIT B).
FAMILY DOLLAR STORES, INC., POST OFFICE BOX 1017, CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA 28201-1017(704)847-6961
