A Permit modification was submitted on <br /> December 18, 2018 to authorize the six batch tanks as a hazardous waste management unit. <br /> Quarterly Update Period : July 1 , 2018 - September 30, 2018 <br /> No significant regulatory activities occurred for this quarter. <br /> Active Permit <br /> On December 23, 2016, DTSC issued a RCRA-equivalent Hazardous Waste Facility Permit to DeMenno-Kerdoon with an effective date of January 31 , 2017 and expiration date of Janu <br /> 30, 2027. The permit authorizes DeMenno Kerdoon to continue to store and treat hazardous waste at the Compton facility. The permit authorized the permittee a total maximum contains <br /> storage capacity of 944-55-gallon drums and up to 200 cubic yards of solids in the Container Storage Unit; and storage and treatment of hazardous waste in tanks, a total maximum tans <br /> storage capacity of 5,201 ,662 gallons, and a maximum tank treatment capacity, in gallons per day, of 374,400 in the Used Oil Recycling Unit; 242,400 for the Waste Water Treatment Pic <br /> 38,400 in the Antifreeze Coolant Recycling Unit; 80,000 in the RCRA Fuels Unit; 576, 000 for three treatment tanks in the Solid Waste Reduction Unit. <br /> FACILITY DESCRIPTION/ HISTORY <br /> DeMenno-Kerdoon (DK) is located at 2000 North Alameda Street, Compton in Los Angeles County. It is bordered on the west side by Alameda Street, Pine Street on the north side, Oal <br /> Street on the south side and other businesses on the east side. DeMenno-Kerdoon is located 2.4 miles west of the Los Angeles River in Section 14E, 15H, Township 3S, Range 13W, S <br /> Bernardino Meridian. The facility is comprised of three parcels, identified by Los Angeles County Assessor's Parcel Numbers 6169-030-001 , 6169-030-005, and 6169-030-011 , page 30, <br /> 6169. <br /> The area where the facility is located is zoned for both industrial and residential use. The industrial zone is along Alameda Street and the residential zone is southeast of the facility. Prim <br /> access roads to the facility consist of major east-west arteries, EI Segundo Boulevard, Rosecrans Boulevard and Compton Boulevard. The north-south arteries are Wilmington Avenue a <br /> Long Beach Boulevard. Freeway access to the facility is provided by interstate freeways 710, 110, 105, and state highway 91 . <br /> The facility is the largest used oil recycling facility in the state. It accepts a wide variety of RCRA and Non-RCRA wastes for storage, treatment, recycling and transfer. The different wast <br /> categories include used oil , oily waste water, waste gasoline, used oil filters, used antifreeze, fuels, and paints. A Hazardous Waste Facility Permit was issued to DK on May 31 , 2001 wi <br /> effective date of July 6, 2001 and expiration of July 6, 2011 . A new Permit Application was submitted for permit renewal in January 2011 . In accordance with state law and regulations, th <br /> Facility continues to operate under the terms of the 2001 permit, which remains in full force and effect as long as DK continues to with DTSC requirements during the review of the perm <br /> application to renew the permit. <br /> Hazardous wastes are accepted in drums, roll off-bins and in bulk. During treatment, DeMenno/Kerdoon generates wastewater and solids.
