On Wednesday, June 7, 20061 met with Rolando Calderon of SKS
Enterprises to review a number of poultry health related issues. During the visit
Rolando requested a visit to the Honen Complex located at 23709 Brandt Road, Lodi,
CA and provide advice on fly control measures that SKS Enterprises could implement.
This is in response to a fly complaint ID C00024526 from your office on May 18, 2006.
The following information was taken from my field report to Rolando, production
manager of SKS Enterprises regarding my comments and recommendations directed at
the fly issue at the Honen Complex.
Fly Control;
House 4 & 5;
Recommend that we clean out buildings 4 and 5 completely. We need to remove all
organic material both on top and underneath the dropping boards. Then disinfect both
houses and close up. The manure in the concrete pit located adjacent to buildings 4 &
5 needs to be removed. Recommend that the manure be composted rather than placed
in the manure bunker. Make sure that all organic debris is removed from the concrete
pit; the pit is disinfected and sealed.
Houses I —3;
It is my understanding that the flocks currently housed in buildings 1- 3 will be removed
in the fall of 2006. When flocks are no longer housed in buildings 1 — 3, remove all
organic debris. Clean and disinfect all three buildings. In the mean time, continue to
clean the dropping boards on a daily basis. It is my understanding that we are
scheduled to do a thorough cleaning under the dropping boards in July 2006.
Recommend that before, during and after this time, when we observe any "excess"
buildup of manure accumulating underneath the dropping boards, that we remove the
manure in a timely fashion.
