Manure will be kept under the cages for the full length of
production cycle (130 wks) .
2. All management practices will be followed to keep the manure
in dry form in order to minimize fly breeding and odor nuisance.
A. Water troughs will be checked daily for leaks and repaired
as needed.
B. Feed Conveyers will be checked daily for leaks, thus reducing
rodent problems as well as fly breeding. -
C. Air will be circulated under the cages where manure will
be kept to accelerate drying process.
D. During high-risk periods (March to October) , fly breeding
activities will be routinely monitored and upon verification
of breeding activities, necessary steps will be taken to
correct the violations. If fly larva is identified, an
approved fly-killer spray or bait will be used to control
flies.
3. Manure will be removed to crop and tree producers as a fertilizer.
The rate of application will depend on the needs of those producers
and the crop being fertilized.
II Wet Manure Management Practices - Conventional Houses 1,2,3,4 & 5
The following manure management plan will be used for the 200,000
layers.
During the months when fields are dry and the manure must be
removed from the poultry houses 2-3 times a week. Conventional
methods of "thin-spread" manure drying will be used in periods
of seven (7) days only. Wet manure will be loaded into a manure
spreader and spread thin on approxiamately 1500 acres of farming
property or dry pad as needed for fertilizer and disked within
24 hours.
11830 East French Camp Road 1 Telephone (209) 983-0642
Manteca, California 95336 Facsimile (209) 983-9116
