September,2000
AMENDMENT TO MANURE MANAGEMENT PLAN
The objective of this plan is to relocate the existing drying pad. KRC Aggregate has
informed SKS that they will soon start to excavate at the location of our existing
dry pad. As a result, SKS has planned to relocate our drying pad. The proposed
location is shown on the map that is attached.
During the winter season,it is almost impossible to spread manure on the drying
pad. For that reason, SKS is proposing to build two manure ponds so that there
would be sufficient capacity for the manure produced in the winter. We believe
this would also reduce the risk of fly breeding and help control the manure odor
during the summer.
As stated in our original plan, SKS is planning to use unit#8 as a composting
house. Manure management is still an important issue and is taken very seriously by
SKS and its' staff. Our goal is to eliminate fly problems entirely.
Proposed#1-Dry pad located at northside of House#7.
Proposed#2-Dry pad located at eastside of House#9.
Proposed#3- Manure ponds locaated at southside of House#9 180' x 500'.
Proposed#4- SKS is planning to use House#8 as a composting house and is
Located at south of House#7 and behind House#5
