Mr. Brendan Kenny
October 7, 2020
Page 8
SFPUC has revised its interception plan to route any releases from future UV
lamp breaks to the grit pond in a manner that is consistent with the protocols
and procedures recommended in the memorandum prepared by McCord
Environmental and the Facility's original design. A copy of the updated plan is
included in the memo on pages 9-11 under `Controlling'. SFPUC intends to
begin operating the Facility consistent with this updated plan in January 2021.
The SFPUC will also continue to notify the Regional Board in the event of
future lamp breaks. The monthly email updates, however, will discontinue
following the delivery of this letter.
Should you have any questions regarding this letter, please feel free to contact
Jowin Jung at jjungCc sfwater.org or (650) 732-0725.
Sincerely,
Angela Cheung, P.E.
Water Supply & Treatment Division Manager
Enclosures:
(1) Notice of Violation from CVRWQCB for Waste Discharge at Tesla, dated
June 2018
(2) Letter to CVRWQCB from SFPUC, dated July 2018
(3) Memo from McCord Environmental, dated June 2020
(4) Memo from Baseline Environmental Consulting, dated June 2020
(5) McCampbell Analytical report, dated January 2019
cc: Garrett Backus, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
