NLS§ 4.2, SSS§ 6.7, SSS§5.4,6.8. The soils directly underlying the proposed leachfield area
reveals a permeability that correlates with the texture analysis of the sandy loam receiving soils.
The effluent receiving soils possess an average acceptance rate of 0.70 gallons/sf/day. The
Average Daily Flow(ADF)was determined to be 770 gallons/day(gpd). The receiving soils were
calculated to manage 1,120 gpd and therefore, have ample capacity to manage the anticipated
wastewater effluent flow volumes.
A backhoe test pit dug adjacent to the existing leachfields reveals probable significant
denitrification evidence, with the nitrate-nitrogen concentrations decreasing from the 8 ft depth to
the 12 ft depth by 87% (23 ppm to 3 ppm). Given the soil physics occurring within the transition
from a loamy sand to a sand, thus creating an anaerobic environment and promoting
denitrification. Many more test pits would have to be dug to substantiate this premise.
The domestic water well testing reveals a nitrate concentration exceeding the Maximum
Contaminate Level for nitrate by 2.5x. A new public well to be drilled for the Winery is presently
undergoing the permitting process.
Nothing is to be stored on, and no vehicles are to be driven over the leachfield area.
Consideration should be given to installing bollards or safety barriers around the leachfield since
there is considerable truck traffic within the facility.
Page -11-
Chesney Consultin"
