The business operator must post the following information next to telephones or in areas directly involved in <br /> the generation and accumulation of hazardous waste: the name and emergency telephone number of the <br /> emergency coordinator, the location of fire extinguishers and spill control material, and the telephone number of the <br /> fire department unless the facility has a direct alarm. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately post the required information at the facility. Provide a statement to the San <br /> Joaquin County Environmental Health Department that the correction is complete. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> 106 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to train employees on waste handling and emergency procedures. <br /> OBSERVATION: At the time of inspection, it could not be demonstrated (not necessarily documented)that <br /> employees who handle hazardous waste were properly trained, based on the following observations: <br /> 1. Two cardboard boxes were observed filled with defective/damaged items in the back storage area.According to <br /> Nicole Valdez,the store manager,the defective/damaged items are sorted through and disposed appropriately once <br /> a week on Sundays. Two damaged Party Poppers were found in one of the cardboard boxes.According to the <br /> "Hazardous Waste Storage"guidance sheet,found in the hazardous waste storage area,waste Party Poppers are <br /> to be stored in a California Hazardous Waste container. <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE: The business owner must ensure that all employees are thoroughly familiar with proper <br /> waste handling and emergency procedures, relevant to their responsibilities during normal facility operations and <br /> emergencies. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately train or re-train the employees. Provide proof of training/re-training within 30 <br /> days to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD)for employees whose responsibilities <br /> include hazardous waste. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> Overall Inspection Comments: <br /> Notes: <br /> 1. OBSERVATIONS: An open container of what appeared to be used oil was observed next to the facility's <br /> dumpster. Nicole Valdez, the store manager, stated this was her first time seeing the container, she didn't know <br /> what the material inside the container was, and she didn't know where the container came from. According to <br /> Nicole, the dumpster is shared by Party City, Petco, and Hobby Lobby.
