CSK Auto#4025 GeoTek Project No.:BC122-4025
Tracy,Califomia 95376 Page 3 of 20
March 2,2000
2.0 INTRODUCTION
2.1 PURPOSE
Scope of the Phase I ESA was to identify and evaluate actual and potential environmental
conditions involving the subject property. It was not the purpose of this assessment to
determine the degree or extent of contamination, if any, but rather the potential for
contamination. No sampling of soils or groundwater was performed.
2.2 SCOPE OF WORK
2.2.1 PHASE I ESA
The Phase I ESA is a general characterization of environmental concerns based on readily
available information and site observations. GeoTek performed the Phase I ESA in
general accordance with the American Society for Testing and Material Engineers
(ASTM) Standard E 1527-97, Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments. The
following services were provided for the assessment:
1. A reconnaissance of the site and surrounding areas to visually assess current site
utilization and for indications of potential surface contamination by walking the
sites boundary, and then traversing the site on foot until the entire site has been
surveyed;
2. Interviews with any available site personnel concerning utilities, and general
information concerning site and surrounding sites history and usage;
3. Surrounding areas for approximately one-mile in radius were reconnoitered by
automobile and observations concerning property uses, condition, and
physiographic settings were made;
4. A review of the site's geologic and hydrogeologic setting;
5. A review of historical aerial photographs to assess the site's historical land
utilization and for indications of potential contamination or sources of
contamination;
6. A review of government documents and interviews with appropriate government
agencies concerning available pertinent environmental information for the site;
and;
