CSK Auto#14025 GeoTek Project No.:BC 122-4025
Tracy,California 95376 Page 11 of 20
March 2,2000
5.2.3 STORAGE TANKS
A 240-gallon waste oil aboveground storage tank (AST) with double wall
secondary containment was located in a chain link fence area adjacent to the
northwest corner of the subject building. A 30 square foot (sq. ft.) oily stain was
• observed on the asphalt pavement adjacent to this AST. GeoTek did not observe
obvious indications of severe cracking in the asphalt pavement in the vicinity of
the stain. The oil staining observed on the asphalt adjacent to the AST should be
properly removed and any waste generated should be disposed in accordance with
applicable regulations.
A 180-gallon waste oil aboveground storage tank (AST) with double wall
secondary containment was observed within the fenced in area adjacent to the
northwest corner of the building. A 20- sq. ft. stain was observed on the asphalt
adjacent to this AST. GeoTek did not observe obvious indications of severe
asphalt cracking in the vicinity of the stain. The oil staining observed on the
concrete adjacent to the AST should be properly removed and any waste generated
should be disposed in accordance with applicable regulations.
5.2.4 HYDRAULIC LIFTS
Five hydraulic lifts were observed in the automobile repair bay area. According to
the service manager, Mr. Andy Castro, the second lift from the west was replaced.
The reason and time of replacement were not reported to GeoTek. In addition,
GeoTek observed an aboveground hydraulic oil tank associated with the second
lift from the west. Mr. Castro indicated the hydraulic lifts are serviced on an as
needed basis by Ferris Hoist. No stains were observed adjacent to the plungers
(ram shafts).
5.2.5 INDICATIONS OF PCBs
GeoTek observed three pole-mounted transformers along the southeastern portion
of the subject site and one pole-mounted transformer in the northeast corner of the
parking area. GeoTek contacted the transformer owner, Pacific Gas & Electric
(PG&E), to obtain information regarding the PCB status of the transformer.
PG&E did not have information regarding the PCB status of the transformers.
PG&E indicated responsibility for cleanup of leaks or spills associated with the
dielectric fluids of the transformers. GeoTek did not observe obvious indications
of leaks, stains, or spills in the vicinity of the transformers. GeoTek does not
consider the pole-mounted transformers to be a recognized environmental
condition to the subject property.
