(KSN) requesting variance to the 100 feet setback
requirement between the proposed 5,000-gallon waste-water holding tank (the tank) to waterways per Table
1.5 of Section 1.5 of the San Joaquin County Onsite Waste Treatment System (OWTS) Standards for the
above referenced site, for the reason that the widest point of the island is only about 150 feet. The EHD
approves variance of the 100-foot setback requirement between tank and waterways, but must meet the 50-
foot setback as an "Existing, Non-Conforming OWTS". The EHD has the following conditions:
1. Obtain Engineer Designed System-Commercial permit prior to construction. An issued building permit
is required priorto issuance of Engineer Designed System permit. The fee will be based on the current
schedule at the time of payment. The EHD must be present at every stage of the installation of the
OWTS system as well as the setting of the audial and visual alarm to witness adherence of the
manufacturer's guideline and EHD conditions.
2. Annual permit is required. Fee for annual operation permit is due at time of Onsite Wastewater
Treatments System (OWTS) permit application. The fee will be based on the current schedule at the
time of payment.
3. The OWTS system shall be inspected and maintained in accordance with the Wastewater System
Design prepared by KSN dated October 2019 and EHD conditions.
If you have any questions please contact Jeffrey Wong, Lead Senior REHS, Program Coordinator, at 209-
468-0335 or at jwong@sjgov.org.
Michael Kith, REHS
Program Coordinator
Cc: Elisabeth A.
