r
0
Kleinfield Farms -2- 5 October 1982
With respect to the 27 September complaint, Mr. Baughman assured me that no waste-
water had been released from the ponds. We walked the area below the ponds and
could see no evidence of a discharge. He further informed me that a large volume
of water (source unknown) had recently flowed downed the drainage course. He
drove me to upgradient locations on the drainage course and we observed evidence
of a significant recent flow. I tested the EC of the ponded water and no measure-
ments were above 250 until we got close to the egg ranch property. Even there,
no measurements above 500 were obtained. Possibly the large flow displaced waste
residuals from the discharge which did occur last winter.
INSPECTION SUMMARY:
The facility manager will complete work intended to. reduce the volume of water
entering the wastewater ponds. In addition, he and the owners will discuss a
pump system to lower the pond levels to provide adequate storage capacity for
the rainy season.
J N L. MENKE
Land and Water Use Analyst
JLM:dg
