Pleasant Valley Farms
dba. Jenkins Poultry farms
30636 east Carter rd.
MMP Plan
General Information
Pleasant Valley Farms are third generation Poultry farmers and have been in the Poultry
business for over 60 years. We have operated in both Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties for
over 60 years. At this time we have four locations in operation; 30636 east Carter Rd.
Farmington, 10858 W. Ripon Rd. Ripon, 27798 S. Two Rivers Rd. Manteca, 1454 Ladd Rd.
Modesto. We have over 60 employees working for the company.
For over 35 years Pleasant Valley Farms has been processing and distributing eggs from over
900,000 birds. In 2009 we moved our processing facility from 10858 W Ripon Rd. Ripon to our
current location at 30636 E. Carter Rd, Farmington.
Peasant Valley Farms and all egg producers have had a difficult time trying to comply and
modify with all the many changes for how our chickens are housed due to the California
Proposition 2. This has changed the way Pleasant Valley Farms now sources it 900,000 birds
worth of eggs. Many changes have taken affect due to Prop 2 (which requires more space for
chickens), new requirements from FDA for food safety and the state passage of food safety
regulations to protect the California citizen. All of this has increased the amount of square feet
for each bird in a barn and increased labor for raising the birds in California. This has forced
almost all of Pleasant Valley Farms egg suppliers to go out of business located in Northern
California. Due to these occurrences we are asking for the increase of birds to our Carter Rd
location in order for our company to be able to comply with all state and federal regulation as
well as maintain our egg production numbers to stay efficient and keep supplying our
customers.
The farm located on the South/East corner of Carter Rd and Henry Rd in Farmington has been
producing egg sense the 1960s. There are multiple structures on the property including;
223,000 sq. feet of poultry barns, 33,000 sq. feet of egg processing building, 5,000 sq. feet of an
office space, a shop, 3 residences, 11,000 sq. feet of a manure barn and 3 sheds. We also have
located on the property 25 acres of Walnuts, 7 acres of drying pad for manure and 4 acres of
drying pad with water retention area which holds rain water run off from manure. We have water
retention ponds used for both egg wash water from processing plant and rain run off. There is a
10 acre open area at his time on the North/East side of the property. This will either be planted
in trees or will be used for future Poultry operation.
At this time the farm is permitted for 300,000 birds. We will be expanding over a period of up to
eight years to get our total bird amount to reach 700,000 birds. This will replace the production
losses from our outside farms located in Northern California. which has gone out of business
due to the increase cost of Food Safety regulations and Prop. 2 . Increasing our bird permit will
allow us to maintain the amount of eggs we run through our processing machine to supply all of
our current customers.
