i West Side Market Site Health and Safety Plan 2/26/2018 Page 4 of 9 CVE DEMOLITION GENERAL HEALTH & SAFETY PLAN GENERAL SAFETY MEASURES When working in the area of an excavation or heavy equipment activity, access to the project site shall be limited by the exclusion zone. The exclusion zone shall include an area at least 20 feet from the demolition and associated equipment. Personnel shall not be allowed in the exclusion zone without appropriate personal protective equipment. All CVE Demolition personnel, subcontractors, and consultants shall adhere to the provisions of the CVE Demolition Site Safety Plan including all applicable elements of the CVE Demolition Illness and Injury Prevention Program (IIPP). All of the above personnel who participate in fieldwork at the site will attend a safety indoctrination provided by the CVE Demolition Site Safety Officer. The CVE Demolition Site Safety Plan is maintained with the Work Plan. Copies of the Work Plan and Health and Safety Plan shall be available to all working units of CVE Demolition, its subcontractors, and consultants. CVE Demolition will provide sanitation and washing facilities within the work area. Facilities shall be maintained and cleaned regularly. SITE SAFETY OFFICER RESPONSIBILITIES The Site Safety Officer shall monitor all activities of equipment and personnel at the project site. Site Safety Officer' s responsibilities will include the following: 1 . Limiting access to the exclusion zone to authorized personnel 2. Providing a written log of on-site activities and events. 3 . Notification of regulatory agencies during emergency procedures. 4. Enforcement of contaminant exposure site safety precautions. 5 . Documenting all injuries and safety incidents. SKIN/CLOTHES PROTECTION Boots will be worn during all activities. Hard hats will be worn during all activities. Rubber boots, rubber gloves, Tyvek suits, face shields, and safety glasses shall be worn when working in an area formerly used to fuels or oils. EYE/EAR PROTECTION Safety glasses will be worn at all times while in the exclusion zone. Hearing protection will be worn during all motorized activities. VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY All CVE Demolition vehicles used on site during the course of work shall be equipped with a first aid kit and a dry chemical fire extinguisher (10 BC minimum rating). All cabs are to be kept free of all non-essential items and all loose items secured.
