Environmental
24 March 2014
Page 4 Resources
Management
will be advanced until staining is not observed or groundwater is
encountered, with samples being collected every 5 feet in depth.
• General housekeeping handling/spilling of chemicals
Based on observations made at the time of sampling, up to 3
additional locations may be added to the sampling program. Samples
will be collected every 5 feet in depth and will extend until staining is
not observed.
SOIL SAMPLING
The following soil sampling procedures will be followed:
• Samples will be collected with a Geoprobe DPT drill rig following
clearing utilities to a depth of five feet bgs via hand auger or air knife.
• Samples collected between the ground surface and 5 feet bgs will be
collected with a hand auger equipped with a sample liner.
• For samples collected at 5 feet bgs and deeper, the drill rig will utilize
a soil sampling tool equipped with a liner for sample collection that
will be pushed to the desired sampling depth with the drive tip
locked in place to prevent soil from entering the sample liner.
• At the desired sampling depth, the locking mechanism will be
released, causing the drive tip to retract inside the drive rod and seat
above the liner.
• The sampling device is subsequently pushed into the soil to collect a
sample.
• Continuous soil cores will be obtained from each boring to document
soil type and other conditions. The borings shall be logged in
accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System under the
supervision of a California state-registered professional geologist.
• All soil boring locations will be surveyed using a hand-held Trimble
Global Positioning System (GPS) unit.
• Samples will be transported to the laboratory for analysis as soon as
possible after sample collection and preparation. The laboratory will
