Find out who is
paying for this investigation. typically THEY pay us.
I caution ARCADIS that if they list themselves and name a person, YOU?, as the contact, the
EHD will continue to charge/send bills to them even after you may end your contract with the
RP and fail to notify the EHD. If ARCADIS is the billing party, be sure your accounts payable
department knows this. It gets old dealing with accounting folks not aware they have to pay
us, all the time claiming they didn't know. SO if you/Arcadis is listed on the MFR as the 'third
billing party', get a copy of that form to your accounts payable folks and advise we bill
monthly. past due accounts, that's when the headaches begin for you...
PERMIT:
bad idea to plan a drill date when the permit application and fee is not even here, let
alone even issued. I/the EHD cannot confirm, accept, agree to a drill date on an UNissued
permit. The EHD will do all that is possible to meet your schedule, assuming your meet our
requirements to submit and to submit with adequate time for processing. We advise TWO
WORKING WEEKS/ten working days from receipt of ALL materials...do the math..you're
cutting it close. and assuming ALL you submit is correct and adequate.. rare. either you get
to rush or have a Plan B drill date in mind.
Soils/grading:
backfill, compaction, grading are NOT within the EHD's scope of jurisdiction. SJ County
Public Works may be helpfull here. I can't be sure but I know from experience backfilling UST
pits require compaction and a SIC-PW declaration/form completion. Not sure if it's relevant
here for you, but check with them anyway. Call (209) 468-3000, the General Information
number.
be sure to read the bottom area by the signature. THe report of findings for this phase must
be released to the EHD when it becomes available to the person signing the form. It's a
binding agreement and we take it very seriously. Prop 65 mandates we follow up and notify
the public if contamination is found.
From: Peterson, Jamey [mailto:Jamey.Peterson@arcadis-us.com]
Sent: Friday, April 02, 2010 12:39 PM
To: Mike Infurna [EH]
Subject: RE: mcdonald island subsurface investigation - sjc permit application
Mike,
Thank you for the info.
