("KL
/Bright Rcople.Right Solutions.
classified and screened as described above for the push probes. Soil samples will be
collected within stainless steel tubes using a California Modified Split Spoon sampler.
Three soil samples are proposed initially for chemical analyses from MW-1 at depth
intervals from surface to 20 feet, at 20 feet bgs and from 20 to 30 feet bgs. Two soil
samples are proposed initially for chemical analyses from MW-2 at depth intervals from
surface to 30 feet and at 30 feet bgs. Specific sampling intervals within the larger
ranges will be based on potential field evidence of contamination such as unusual soil
discoloration, chemical odors and/or elevated PID readings. During the well installation
process the sand pack will be surged to increase the hydraulic radius of the well.
Approximately forty-eight hours after installation, each of the two new monitoring wells
will be further developed to remove sediment from the bottom of the well, remove
sediment-laden water, and increase the hydraulic radius of the well. Development will
be performed using a pneumatic pump, submersible pump, suction pump or bailer as
outlined in Section 3.2 of the attached Typical Kleinfelder Protocol.
Greater than 48 hours after development, a groundwater-sampling event will be
conducted. Water level measurements will be recorded prior to purging and sampling
of the wells. During the sampling event, the monitoring wells will be purged of
approximately 3 casing volumes of water and sampled using a disposable bailer and as
generally described in Section 4, attached.. The proposed analytical methods are
summarized in Task 2, and detailed further in attached Table 1 with soil and water
samples being analyzed for the same suite of analyses for each well boring.
The samples will be submitted for analyses on a normal laboratory schedule requiring
approximately two weeks (10 working days) for completion unless the optional rush
analytical turnaround is requested by the client at an additional charge.
Purge water generated during development and sampling of the well, as well as other
investigation derived waste (i.e., drill cuttings, steam cleaning water, etc.), will be
contained in 55-gallon drums and left onsite. Disposal will be the responsibility of the
client. If requested Kleinfelder can assist with disposal at an additional cost.
Task 4 — Reporting
Upon completion of the field activities and receipt of the analytical results, a report of
findings will be prepared. The report will include:
• A description of the field activities, observations, and protocols;
• Tabulated results of soil samples with copies of certified analytical results;
• A graphical representation of sample locations;
114050.WP/STO12P0580 Page 5 of 8 July 16, 2012
Copyright 2012 Kleinfelder
