Pacific Gas and
r & Electric Company
375 North Wiget Lane,
Walnut Creek,CA 94598-2412
May 15, 2003
Mr. Harlen Knoll Rol EJ
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
304 East Weber, Third Floor MAY i i i1L:
Stockton, California 95202 ENV1KjjjIViENI HrNL 1 11,
Subject: Concurrence with September 16, 2002 Soil and Groundwater Asses r J/SERVICES
at McDonald Island Gas Storage Facility, San Joaquin County, California
Dear Mr. Knoll:
You may recall that several months ago, we discussed issues concerning regulatory
concurrence of the subject Soil and Groundwater Assessment report issued on Sept. 16,
2002 (copy enclosed). You indicted that the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department was not in a position to approve the report, but rather the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) should provide over site and approval
for clean closure of the subject area.
I did speak with Wendy Cohen of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
concerning this issue, and she agreed to receive a copy of the report for review (ref.
attached letter, dated, March 27, 2003). During the last week in April, I again spoke with
Ms. Cohen. She indicated that, upon your agreement with the findings in the report, she
would also be in concurrence.
In order to facilitate in gaining agreement, I have attached a simple statement of
concurrence to be signed and forwarded to the (CVRWQCB) for signature. We would also
be happy in receiving any other form of signed correspondence if your office is not
comfortable in signing the attachment.
Please contact me at (925) 974-4079 if you have any questions or need any additional
information.
Thank you for your help in this matter.
Sincerely,
Rich McCurdy,
Sr. Consulting Engineer
Cc: Wendy Cohen, Sr. WRC Engineer
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
David Germann
John Villalobos
Melvin Wong
Attachment
