surface water bodies in the area will be resurveyed, for accuracy. A
Registered Land Surveyor will perform surveying.
4.1.5 Soil Logging
Samples obtained during drilling will be classified and logged according to
the Unified Soils Classification System by the onsite geologist under the
direction of a registered geologist and described in terms of color, texture
(grain size and gradation), mineralogy, cementation, and wetness.
4.2 Hydrogeologic Characterization
The objectives and approach of the hydrogeologic characterization are as follows.
The study will involve of defining subsurface stratigraphy, evaluating aquifer
characteristics, and measuring vertical and horizontal groundwater flow gradients.
The subsurface stratigraphy and structure will be defined by describing the
subsurface lithology encountered by sampling in each borehole. . Water level
measurements from all of the existing and proposed monitoring wells, will be used to
establish horizontal flow gradients and groundwater velocities. Vertical gradients in
the shallow aquifer wells (MW2 and MW5) will be compared to the deep aquifer
results.
ZAPROP-PRA1999U 524-p\dehvbletrpn 1574.1 Aa
13
