0
• It was emphasized by the Department that poultry manure must be removed from the
property, once it is removed from the lay houses, as quickly as possible. This typically
occurs within 24 to 48 hours but in no event shall it sit longer than 72 hours (per the
approved amended Manure and Vector Management Plan). In the rare event this cannot be
accommodated Olivera Foods will contact the Department and Olivera Foods will employ
special manure handling protocols as provided in the amended Manure and Vector
Management Plan.
Also discussed was the modification of the biosecurity measures adhered to by the
Department in response to the Newcastle Disease out break in California last year. The
Department agreed that should it choose to modify the protocols currently in place that the
following precaution(s) would be implemented. Department personnel shall not enter the
poultry facility at 4140 Canada Road if staff had been at any other site of avian activity
earlier that same day. Olivera Foods President, Edward F. Olivera Jr., understands and
agrees to this change of the previously signed document, Recommendations and Protocols
to Prevent the Spread of Exotic Newcastle Disease Agreement.
The Department looks forward to a successful "new season" in which weekly adult fly spot
card counts are kept below the minimum action threshold of 50 and never above the public
nuisance action threshold of 75.
Sincerely,
Tim Mulligan
Manager
Cc (electronic): Ben Gale, Director DEH
Antone Pacheco, Director HMCD
Chris Rummel, DEH Specialist
John Ballard, VCD Tech 11
3
