5. Use a Class ABC extinguisher, only after doing Steps 1 and 2. Approach from an upwind <br /> direction. <br /> 6. Aim the extinguisher at the base of the fire and sweep from side-to-side. Back away <br /> from the smoldering or burning material. <br /> 7. Apply water to extinguish the smoldering embers. <br /> 8. If the fire is not extinguished after exhausting one 30 Ib. fire extinguisher, back away. <br /> 9.
