According to Milton Daley, the filter cake <br /> hazardous waste is hauled off site, usually once a year. The hazardous waste is held until there is a truck full <br /> accumulated to minimize the cost of disposal. <br /> -Used Mercuric Bromide test strips seen in the lab did not have a start accumulation date on <br /> -Two 1 gallon containers of by-lux bright(safety) red were seen, wet, open behind the storage shed. <br /> -One coffee can marked "paint thinner", open, with liquid inside seen stored under a piece of equipment near the <br /> storage shed. <br /> Facilities who generate more than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month may store waste on site up to 90 days. <br /> Immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest and submit a copy of <br /> the manifest to the EHD. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 605 CCR 66262.34(f) Failed to completely label containers or tanks of hazardous waste. <br /> At time of inspection: <br /> -The twenty yard roll off bin did not have a legible hazardous waste label. The words hazardous waste were visible. <br /> -Used Mercuric Bromide test strips seen in the lab did not have a hazardous waste label on them. <br /> -Two 1 gallon containers of by-lux bright(safety) red were seen, wet, open behind the storage shed, without a <br /> hazardous waste label. <br /> -One coffee can marked "paint thinner", open, with liquid inside seen stored under a piece of equipment near the <br /> storage shed, without a hazardous waste label. <br /> All hazardous waste containers shall be marked with the following information: <br /> -the words "Hazardous Waste" <br /> -name and address of generator <br /> - hazardous properties <br /> -physical state <br /> -composition (contents) <br /> -accumulation start date <br /> Immediately label these containers and ensure that all containers are marked with all the required information. Since <br /> these containers have been on site longer than 90 days, immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to <br /> dispose of this waste under manifest and submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD. <br /> This is a repeat violation, Class II. <br /> Overall Inspection Comments: <br /> An inspection checklist was provided to the facility operator on the day of inspection. The EHD has written the <br /> complete report which replaces the initial checklist. <br /> Complete and submit a copy of the Return to Compliance Certification form to the EHD with a statement <br /> documenting the corrective actions that have been or will be taken for each violation, and any supporting <br /> paperwork, within 30 days of receiving the complete inspection report. <br /> Page 11 of 12 <br />
