have spoken further with the commun-
ity center, and have decided not to
ask for their assistance. Rather,
we will use the U. S. Postal Service
to distribute the mailouts to those
included in the mailing list. Ex-
tra copies will be available at the
community center for informal di-
stribution, but we do not intend to
rely on the center for notification.
DHS requests that the CRP state
that the progress report should be
mailed out 7 to 14 days before
"meetings or site activities . " We
feel that this request is too
specific, and if taken literally,
would require community relations
activities far in excess of those
outlined in this plan. Many site
activities are ongoing, and it
would be difficult, costly, and
inefficient to maintain constant
notification.
We plan to prepare a fact sheet
this month and a meeting notice
this fall. We fully intend to dis-
tribute the meeting notice in a
timely manner, 7 to 14 days prior
to the public meeting. We do not
feel it appropriate to modify the
text of the CRP at this time.
D-22 4 DHS comments that we must contact
them for approval of the plan, but
we should not postpone or cancel
community relations activities
because of delays. This comment is
noted. We interpret it to mean
that we should proceed with imple-
mentation of the plan prior to DHS
approval, which is what we have
attempted to do.
D-22 5 DHS indicates that fact sheets are
needed to notify the community of
planned site activities. As we
have discussed with DHS on several
occasions, we are currently pro-
ceeding with preparation of our
first fact sheet.
7
