channels by pond water being re-circulated by circulating pumps back into
the manure lagoon. This lagoon is an anaerobic lagoon complying with
MRCS Guideline No. 359.
11. There are 378,500 chickens (yearly average) in houses 2, 3, 4, 5, and 14
which are "belt" houses.
In the "belt" houses there is a conveyor belt directly under each deck of
chickens. The conveyors are run every other day. They take the manure
to the end of the house where a cross conveyor then takes it to a central
elevator outside of the houses. The manure is dropped into a trailer and
dumped into "windrows" for drying.
111. There are 31,500 chickens (yearly average) in "cage free" houses. House
1 is an "aviary" house and House 6 is a "floor" house. The manure from
both houses is put in the "windrows."
L The "aviary" house consists of four banks, each with two decks that
have manure conveyors below them. The majority of the manure is
then removed in the same manner as the "belt" houses. The
remaining manure is treated the same as a "floor" house.
ii. The "floor" house is covered with litter. Both the manure and litter
are cleaned out between flocks.
The windrows are currently located on the west end of the back unit (houses 11-14)
during the dry months. The windrows are turned with a "windrow pile turner." During
the fly breeding season, the windrows are sprayed with "larvadex" for larva control and
"permectrin" for knock-down control of adult flies attracted to the windrows. During the
rainy season, the windrows are located on the fly-ash pad in the smaller overflow
lagoon and the demolished house 9 concrete pad.
This manure will be hauled off for fertilization of nearby farms on an annual basis.
Solid Waste (Refuse and Dead Animal) Management
There are two 3-yard dumpsters that are emptied weekly by Stockton Scavengers
Assoc., Inc. This service handles the everyday employee generated garbage and the
household garbage of the resident caretaker.
The daily mortality of 250-300 chickens is incinerated in the two incinerators. One is
located in the front unit and the other in the back unit. Ash from the incinerators is
