Bowman
Road in French Camp, CA 95231. The poultry ranch operates year-round. There are a
total of eleven hen houses.
There are two wells serving the operation: a primary 25 hp well and a smaller back-up
well.
The prevailing wind direction is from the NW /W to the SE / E spring through fall. In the
winter the wind predominately blows from N to S.
Manure n a nt
The eleven houses are divided into three distinct housing systems.
I. Houses 2,3,4,5,9,10 and 14 are "belt' houses.
In the "belt' houses there is a conveyor belt directly under each deck of chickens.
The conveyors are run every day. They take the manure to the back of the house
where a cross conveyor takes the manure directly into a "tunnel dryer" which is
an integral part of the house. In the "tunnel dryer" the manure is taken back and
forth on conveyors in front of the house exhaust fans. When the manure comes
out of the dryer,,the moisture content is reduced to 15-20%.
