28 October 2020 AdvancedGeo
Project No. 20-6092 An Employee-Owned Compony
Page 8 of 20
drum. Drums and totes are stored in a covered area inside the Shop and are not exposed
to precipitation.
4.4.2. Fueling Area
The loading and unloading of diesel fuel into trucks and equipment occurs at the two fuel
dispensing pumps that are connected to the two 6,000-gallon diesel fuel ASTs, located
approximately 250 feet southwest from the building.
4.4.3. Oil Transfer Areas
The AST fill pipe connections are located within a fueling box, on the east end of the two
ASTs to catch leaks from the piping/hose connections during filling operations. The diesel
fuel dispensing pumps are located to the west of the ASTs within a concrete pad that also
acts as a spill containment. Sorbent material is available in a spill cleanup kit and fire
extinguishers are located between the ASTs and the fuel dispensing pump area. The spill
kit is positioned for rapid deployment should a spill occur, such as spills associated with
overfills or hose rupture from the fuel dispenser.
The remaining petroleum product transfer occurs at the Facility during loading and
unloading of new and waste motor oil and filters containerized in double wall ASTs and
55-gallon drums placed on spill pallets. Loading and unloading of new and used motor oil
from a delivery truck and reloading of waste oil and products onto a delivery truck for
disposal occurs inside the shop building. A spill kit is positioned for rapid deployment
should a spill occur during new and used motor oil transfer operations.
The response equipment inventory for the facility is listed in Appendix E of this Plan. The
inventory is checked monthly to ensure that used material is replenished.
4.4.4. Drainage System
The facility storm water drainage is designed for surface sheet flow and sloped towards
the southeast to a stormwater detention pond. of the facility. Spills would travel as sheet
flow on the surface toward the southeastern perimeter of the property.
4.4.5. Practicability of Secondary Containment— 40 CFR 112.7(d)
Facility management has determined that secondary containment is required at this site
for all petroleum storage containers, including 55-gallon drums.
