Do not pour <br /> contaminated oil or other chemicals into the used oil tank. <br /> Location: Policy Center/Store Safety Manual/Chapter 4 Used Oil <br /> Management <br /> Oil or Chemical Spill Cleanup <br /> Oil or chemical spills of any kind must not be allowed to enter any drain or <br /> sewer system. Follow the steps below when cleaning up oil or chemical <br /> spills. <br /> 1. Stop the source of the spill. <br /> 2. Use absorbent clay to absorb the spill. Use paper towels or rags as <br /> needed. Important! Prevent spills from entering any drain. <br /> 3. Sweep up the absorbent material and place in the absorbent collection <br /> drum. <br /> 4. Wash hands with soap and water. <br /> 5. Ask these questions: <br /> • Is the spill 5 gallons or more? <br /> • Is oil or a chemical spilled into the ground? <br /> • Is oil or a chemical spilled into a drain? <br /> • Do significant signs of staining remain? <br /> • If the answer to any of the above is yes, then immediately call the <br /> Environmental specialist at 1-700-777-3030, ext 7217. <br /> Absorbent Collection Drum <br /> Absorbent collection drums hold used materials such as absorbent saturated <br /> with used oil, oily paper towels, and oily rags. Drums are available in either <br /> 55 or 30 gallon size. <br /> Note: Safety-Kleen picks up absorbent drums every 180 days or when full <br /> and transports them for proper disposal. <br /> Absorbent collection drums must be replaced every six months (180 days) <br /> from the accumulation start date, or when the drum is full. <br /> Contact info: Contact Safety-Kleen at 1-800-545-3520 for absorbent <br /> collection drum service. <br />
