KLEINFELDER
Metal Results
The total metal analyses detected 10 metals including arsenic, barium, chromium, cobalt, copper,
lead, mercury, nickel, vanadium and zinc. Table 1 shows the concentrations of the total metal
results and comparison of regulatory limits and goals.
The concentrations for total metals for each of the ten metals detected did not exceed the Total
Threshold Limit Concentration (TTLC) Regulated Level for classification of the metals as a
hazardous waste per California Code of Regulations 22CCR §66261.24. The concentration of
the ten total metals detected including lead and copper were also found to be below PRGs for
industrial use.
However total lead in both composite samples and copper in one composite sample were found
to exceed 10 -times the Soluble Threshold Limit Concentration (STLC) Regulated Level for these
metals as expressed in 22CCR §66261.24. The factor of 10 -times the STLC Regulated Level is
commonly used as an indicator as to whether or not an STLC analysis is appropriate to be ran on
the sample. Therefore these two metals were additionally analyzed for STLC analyses using
distilled water extraction.
The results of the STLC analyses for lead and copper for the two composite samples were none
detected at or above laboratory reporting limits. Therefore the soluble concentrations of lead and
copper, if present below detection limits, are well below the STLC regulated levels for these two
metals and the soil would not be a hazardous waste based on its metals concentrations analyzed
per 22 CCR§66261.24.
Diesel Range Hydrocarbons
Diesel range hydrocarbons (TPH-D) were detected at concentrations ranging
mg/kg in the two composite stockpile samples. Based on Kleinfelder's
concentration of TPH-D are relatively low and would not generally trigger
additional investigation or cleanup from local or state agencies.
20-1108-33.001/2011 R 1188
2001, Kleinfelder, Inc.
from 1.7 to 4.3
experience this
requirements for
Page 4of7
October 17, 2001
