Fw�"LKQ <br /> orM a. .iaa-�n..m..k.i ar lf�ys�e <br /> Hurricane.- <br /> The <br /> urricane:The nature of a hurricane provides for more warning than other natural and weather <br /> disasters_ A hurricane watch issued when a hurricane becomes a threat to a coastal <br /> area. A hurricane warning is issued when hurricane winds of 74 mph or higher, or a <br /> combination of dangerously high water and rough seas, are expected in the area <br /> within 24 hours. <br /> _Hurricane Preparedness Checklist <br /> Marty of the following procedures could prevent further damage by fire and <br /> reduce the risk of injury to emergency personnel entering the building. <br /> • Turn off all main breakers <br /> • Disable automatic start-up switch on generators <br /> • Shut off all pilot lights for natural gas or LP gas. <br /> Disconnect the regulators from all cutting/welding tanks. Shut off all tankis and install <br /> protective caps. <br /> • Secure ail tanks to an I-beam or lay on the floor <br /> Store managers shall take all cash, delivery tickets, and any records for all <br /> transactions that are still open or have not been "DT'd" or inputted into the computer. <br /> • Prepare a list of all employees, their home phone numbers and cell phone numbers. <br /> Post Hurricane Checklist <br /> • Do not permit any other employees to enter the facility until it has been deemed safe <br /> to enter- <br /> * When conducting the re-entry hazard assessment look for and document the <br /> following: <br /> o Damaged and weakened supporting structure/members. <br /> o Chemical spills <br /> o Downed power/phone Imes <br /> o Broken air/gas lines <br /> o Supporting footings weakened from water erosion <br /> o Water intrusion to any electric/electronic components <br /> o Any condition which represents an employee hazard <br /> Video or photograph all damaged assets <br /> Once a hurricane watch has been issued: <br /> ■ Stay calm and await instructions from the Facility Manager. <br /> • Moor any boats securely, or move to a safe place if time allows- <br /> Continue to monitor local TV and radio stations for instructions. <br /> • Move early out of low-lying areas or from the coast, at the request of officials_ <br /> • If you are on high ground, away from the coast and plan to stay, secure the Building, <br /> moving all loose items indoors and boarding up windows and openings- <br /> Collect drinking water in approlariate containers. <br /> Once a hurricane warning has been issued: <br /> ■ Be ready to evacuate as directed by the Facility Manager. <br /> • Leave areas that might be affected by storm tide or stream flooding. <br /> 18 <br />
