i <br /> i <br /> CODE OF SAFE PRACTICES <br /> MANUFACTURING/SPRAY PAINTING <br /> I. <br /> SAFE, WORKPLACE CONDITIONS <br /> 1. IF, exhaust systems must be working properly during spray painting <br /> operations. <br /> 2. Spray painting booth and area must be clear of combustible debris at all times. <br /> 3. Personal protective equipment storage,cleaning and maintenance area must be <br /> available at all times. <br /> II. SAFE WORK PRACTICES <br /> 1. Appropriate respirator must be worn at all times during spray paint operations. <br /> 2. OSHA approved personal protective clothing and equipment(shoes or boots with anti-spark <br /> soles, safety glasses/goggles, full face respirator, tyvec type outer clothing coveralls with <br /> hood)must be worn during spray painting operations. <br /> 3. Employees must keep floors clean and free of debris. All papers,rags,masking tapes <br /> etc.,must be placed in appropriate closed containers for disposal. <br /> 4. Proper lifting techniques shall be used when working with parts or objects to be <br /> moved. Jib cranes,overhead cranes and forklifts(electric only)are to be used to <br /> hoist,lift,or move parts or material whenever possible. Employees are not to <br /> manually lift more than 35 pounds at any time. (Back injury prevention training is <br /> mandatory for this job class). <br /> 5. Employees operating mechanical material handling equipment must be qualified by <br /> training and authorized by the department supervisor to do so. <br /> 6. Employees mixing and using coatings and associated chemicals must be qualified by <br /> training and authorized by the department supervisor to do so. <br /> 7. Eating and drinking of fluids in the paint shop is prohibited. Smoking in the paint <br /> each shift. Safety shoes,glasses/goggles,face shields etc.must be properly disposed <br /> of. Respirators must be disassembled and thoroughly cleaned and properly stored in <br /> plastic bags at the end of each shift. <br /> S. Hearing protection must be worn when noise levels reach or exceed 85 decibels. <br /> 9.
